Located in Stevensville, Maryland, Paul Reed Smith Guitars is one of the world's premier guitar manufacturers. Since their beginning in 1985, PRS has strived to create the highest quality instruments possible. Guitar building is a very personal thing at Paul Reed Smith, and most of the staff are dedicated players. They have a deep commitment to the craft, and their dedication to quality is very apparent in the instruments they produce.
The Minor Chord stocks two lines from Paul Reed Smith:
The PRS S2 Series is made at the company headquarters in Stevensville, MD. These guitars offer the famous fit, finish, feel, and attention to detail of PRS craftsmanship at a surprisingly affordable price.
The SE Series is designed in the Paul Reed Smith facility in Maryland and manufactured in Asia to strict PRS quality standards. These are high-quality yet reasonably priced instruments for the working musician or for the student who is ready for a step up. The amazing new SE Standard models, the most affordable instruments in the SE line, start at under $500 but still have that unmistakeable PRS quality.
Although we do not usually stock guitars from Paul Reed Smith's top-of-the-line Core Series, the factory keeps us up-to-date on available models and we would be happy to order one for you.

PRS S2 Series Guitars
The first gloss-black S2 Mira solidbody we had in the store was a staff favorite, and we like this new semi-hollow edition in McCarty Sunburst even more!
With its full chambered body and PRS stop tailpiece with heavy brass studs, it has a very nice warm, resonant character - even unplugged.
The Mira humbucker pickups can be coil-tapped for sweeter single-coil sounds simply by pulling out the push-pull tone knob. It has a 25 inch scale mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, dot marker inlays, locking tuners... and the chambered body is lighter than you'd expect! A real advantage when you play a long gig.
The Vela model is Paul Reed Smith's first foray into an offset body style. This one is gorgeous in its Seafoam Green finish.
In July, 2015 Premier Guitar said: "If you've previously balked at trying a PRS because you didn't dig the styling, this beautiful machine - and its beautiful tones - might flip that notion on its head."
The Vela has a solid-mahogany body, plate-style bridge with brass saddles and a 25 inch scale mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, dot marker inleys and locking tuners.
The pickup combination on the Vela gives you all kinds of tone choices: A Starla humbucker with a coil tap switch at the bridge position, and a new design type-D Singlecoil at the neck.
A more affordable version of the famous PRS Custom 24, this guitar features a mahogany body in the original Custom 24 body shape with an asymmetric book-matched figured maple top with a gray/black finish. The neck is mahogany with a 25 inch scale and a rosewood fingerboard with sharp-looking trademark PRS 'Bird' inlays
The pickup configuration includes an S2 HFS at the bridge and an S2 Vintage Bass at the neck. Both can be switched into coil-tap mode for a more 'single-coil' tone. The bridge is an S2-style tremolo.
Any fan of the original top-of-the-line PRS Custom 24 should check out this more affordable S2 Series version. It maintains that classic PRS look, feel and sound. And it's still US-made - but at a fraction of the price.
Here is a new take on the famous PRS Custom 22 - but this time, it's hot off the press as a member of the more affordable Maryland-built S2 line. This guitar has the classic pairing of a mahogany body and a maple top with a gorgeous black cherry finish.
Mahogany neck with a 25-inch scale and a rosewood fingerboard with PRS signature 'bird' inlays. Locking tuners. The S2 tremolo bridge works well, staying in tune nicely after you use the whammy bar. The PRS-designed humbucker pickups sound great for a wide range of styles and can be operated in coil-tap mode for even more tonal options. (The chrome covers on the humbuckers happen to look particularly nice paired with the black cherry finish.)
Anyone looking for a versatile US-made guitar should certainly check this one out!
PRS SE Series Guitars
Crank it up and squeal!! This new PRS SE Torero is made for metal.
With its 25-1/2 inch scale maple neck, a wide and thin neck profile, and a bound ebony fretboard, this axe is smooth and very fast.
Dive bomb down with the Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo bridge. Get those pinch harmonics with the EMG 81 and EMG 85 humbuckers. The Torero's 24 frets let you go way up the neck on your solos.
Our Torero is in the very sharp looking Silverburst finish. Come try it out for yourself!
The Custom 24 shape is the go-to design for PRS fans. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its introduction, PRS has released special Custom 24 models in all of its lines. This guitar is part of the PRS SE line, which represents exceptional value and quality at an affordable price point. Here, we have a mahogany body and a top featuring a flame maple veneer that really catches your eye.
The specs: 25-inch scale length neck with 24 frets. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard and bird-inlay markers. Wide but thin neck profile. PRS temolo bridge. SE HFS treble and SE Vintage bass humbucking pickups.
This guitar plays easy and sounds fantastic! The humbuckers are warm and full-sounding, but with the coil-tap wiring you can pull out the Tone control for an incisive single-coil sound as well.
The SE 30th Anniversary Custom 24 sounds good either clean or cranking into a high gain setting on your amp. And the orange flame maple finish is simply... Awesome!
Based on on the popular PRS Santana models, this more affordable version is a lot of guitar for the money. It features a mahogany body, a maple top with a striking flame maple veneer, and a mahonagy set neck with a rosewood fretboard. 'Bird' fretboard inlays give it that classic PRS look.
The scale length of the neck is 24-1/2 inches, a bit shorter than the usual 25 inch scale of most PRS guitars. The neck also has a generous width and fat profile. Anyone who prefers a beefy neck, has larger hands, or likes to fingerpick their electric should like the feel of this guitar.
The SE Santana humbuckers deliver the fat tones you'd expect, but can also produce a smooth sound - just like Carlos Santana himself!
Our guitar features a nice Santana Yellow finish that shows off the flame maple top, but the same model can be ordered in Santana Red or the plainer Jet White.
We're excited to get this popular PRS SE signature model!
Zach Meyers, of the band Shinedown, helped design this beauty. It features a chambered mahogany body with a single f-hole, a striking flamed maple veneer top, a wide- and fat-profile neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with bird inlays. For hardware, it boasts an adjustable stoptail bridge and SE245 humbucker pickups.
Right away, we saw why players dig this instrument. The semi-hollow body delivers a nice warmth and the humbuckers sound extra rich.
From hard rock to blues to jazz, this versatile guitar can expand your sonic landscape.
PRS SE Standard Series Guitars
The new PRS SE Standard guitars are a super addition to an already great PRS SE line. With the SE Standards, you can get into a Paul Reed Smith instrument for under $500! These guitars are comfortable to play and are a far better investment than many competitors at a similar price level.
This 22-fret model features an all-mahogany body, a 25 inch scale mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, a wide, fat profile and bird inlays. The two humbucker pickups and a heavy stop tailpiece deliver solid, full tone.
The Standard 24 is a fresh take on the Paul Reed Smith flagship, the Custom 24. This is a solid all-around guitar that plays easily and sounds great.
All mahogany body, maple neck with a 25 inch scale, a wide/thin profile, rosewood fretboard and bird inlays. HFS and Bass humbucker pickups.
The PRS Santana guitars have a short 24-1/2 inch scale and a buttery, sweet tone. All mahogany body and a set mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. Equipped with twin 245 humbucker pickups.
This one comes in a rich Faded Tortoise Shell finish.
And last but not least, here is the PRS Santana Standard in a gleaming gloss white finish.
